不一樣的脂肪    How well do you know about your belly?

我們的肚腩原來儲存著不一樣的脂肪!大肚腩除了「蘊藏」著皮下脂肪,它也包含內臟脂肪。內臟脂肪是指儲存在我們內臟周圍的脂肪,它會增加我們患上糖尿病、心臟病、中風及腦退化的風險。

Don’t overlook your big belly! Your oversized belly is indeed telling you that you are at higher risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke and dementia. Fats accumulated around our waist contain not only subcutaneous fats, but also visceral fats which post serious health risks to us. Visceral fats are referring to the fats that stored around our inner organs, and they may involve in our metabolism differently to cause harm to our health.

那麼多大的肚腩是大肚腩?一般來說,男士腰圍超過35.5寸 (90厘米),女士腰圍超過31.5寸 (80厘米) 便有較高的相關疾病風險。雖然大肚腩內有著不一樣的脂肪,但適量的運動及均衡飲食同樣有效踢走大肚腩的內臟脂肪!

How big is an oversized belly? In general, Asian women with a waist circumference of 31.5 inches (80cm) and Asian men with a circumference of over 35.5 inches (90cm) are considered to have an oversized belly. Although a big belly contains health threatening fats, the good news is visceral fat in the belly can also be shed by being more active and following a healthy diet!
